To keep your account safe, it is highly recommended to change your login password every 3 months. I bet almost all the users know this fact but doesn’t know how to do it at all. So, here’s the simple guide that you need to follow in order to change your sign in password;
Change Hotmail Sign in Password
- First off, login to your account.
- Now, click on your profile image (located at upper right corner).
- Click on “View Account“.
- Now, click on “Change password” and you’re done.
Things to remember,
You need to verify your identity to change your password. So, in order to do that, Microsoft team will send you a code in either your alternative email address or the phone number that you provided. You can choose either of them. Enter that code and you can easily choose your new password.
Most of the users mistook changing password with reset password and ends up doing some thing that they are not intended to do. So, make sure that if you lost your password or can’t remember your password and you have access to your phone and alternative email address easily then that’s RESET Password. And if you know your password and can login to your account but still want to change your password for the security reasons, that’s CHANGE password. So, don’t get confused on this again.
Many users are complaining on the verification process as you need to verify each and every time you need to do some changes. Unlike other email services like AOL, Gmail etc, you don’t need to do much of verification for the change that you wish to make. All you need to do is enter your password for the verification. But this makes Hotmail secure and safe from other email services.
If you are using Outlook mobile app, the process for changing the password is same.
You can change your display name (not the username), Display picture from the same page. Also, you can add a payment option that can be used to purchase an app for your windows device, customize your privacy and many more from this page too.
